UWF's Master of Business Administration online offers a comprehensive curriculum, giving you the expert business skills, tools and experiences that allow you to advance your career quickly—and affordably. More than 50 percent of the courses include experiential, applied learning, allowing you to build an integrated Portfolio demonstrating your strategic skills and expertise. Each student is able to select his/her own industry, ensuring the knowledge and skills gained are applicable to your current job responsibilities while preparing you for new opportunities upon graduation.

Courses

The coursework for the Master of Business Administration online is accelerated and based on 7-week terms to provide flexibility to students by compressing the average time to completion. This program consists of 33 credit hours, including two 1½-hour introductory courses and ten 3-hour core courses.

Admissions

Any individual with an undergraduate degree is eligible to apply for admission to the Master of Business Administration online program. Requirements include a 3.0 undergraduate GPA—or a 2.75 undergraduate GPA with at least 8 years of relevant work experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Applicants must also submit a résumé and 2 letters of recommendation.

An introductory MBA core course in which students must combine the practical skills and discipline of specific concepts in order to solve a complex, integrated real-life business problem. Serves as an initial integrating experience from which to launch students into the core MBA study.

Provides the background for beginning the MBA Portfolio. Gives introduction to information resources available to perform business problem analysis. Students learn to prepare a thorough analysis of their Portfolio industry.

Budgeting, profit planning and controlling aspects of business policy determination.

Develops expertise in the use of a set of tools to analyze the effect of economic, regulatory and tax policies (external environment) on the business environment and the conduct of business in domestic and international markets. Ethical implications of business response to these environments are also considered.

Provides the MBA student with a contemporary managerial perspective on the effective use of information systems in global organizations through case analyses and class discussions. Topics include the business value of information systems, integration of information systems with enterprise strategy, the use of information systems to achieve organizational redesign for strategic advantage, and applying the processes of leadership and management to information systems planning and implementation. Contains a Portfolio project.

Appreciation and understanding of the field of organizational behavior and its application in managing human and other resources. Emphasizes understanding individual behavior (motivation, self-awareness, leadership, etc.) and group dynamics (decision-making, group development and work), plus conflict, climate, learning styles, power, stress, process/content, human rights and quality. Utilizes experiential learning methodologies and other appropriate designs. Prerequisites: may not be taken for credit by students having credit for INP 6397.

Provides students with quantitative skills that are required to make business decisions. These skills involve using statistical, forecasting and estimation techniques. Students are expected to use the subject matter for problem sets and exams.

Concepts of competition as they relate to business management policies and practices; profit goals and measurement problems; multiple product policy; demand analysis; cost concepts; pricing problems; case studies. Contains a Portfolio project.

Advanced treatment of investment and financing decisions of firms, emphasis on current theory and practice. Course contains a Portfolio project.

Planning and control of domestic and multinational service and manufacturing operations utilizing information inside and outside the organization. Techniques to plan and improve location, layout, flow through the facility, design of work, and management of the human factor; all with an emphasis on management and maintenance of quality. Contains a Portfolio project.

Creation of enduring and mutually satisfactory customer relationships through the provision of customer value as an enterprise management philosophy. With consideration given to operating environments, the course is designed to teach the formulation, implementation, and control of comprehensive marketing strategy with emphasis on the integrative aspects of the marketing function in a market-based enterprise. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses are used in applications oriented context. Contains a Portfolio project.

Utilizes case analysis, a strategic simulation and other related experiential exercises. Integrates and applies the various business management functions from the strategic viewpoint of the organizational chief executive officer.

Admissions

Master of Business Administration Online Requirements

Any individual with a bachelor’s degree is eligible to apply for admission to the Master of Business Administration online program. Admission to the program is selective and based on a combination of factors, including academic and professional achievement.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for admission:

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Official transcripts (sent from a college or university directly to the Graduate School, bearing an official seal and signature) from all previously attended universities. Students who received their undergraduate degree from UWF do not need to provide UWF transcripts.

  • International students may have additional requirements.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher—or 2.75 with at least 8 years of relevant work experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Two letters of recommendation that outline leadership experience and potential
  • Copy of professional résumé
  • Graduate level motivation and writing abilities as noted in essay responses within application
  • Business course academic preparation

GMAT/GRE may be waived if one of the following criteria is met:

  • GPA of at least 3.25
  • GPA of at least 3.0 and at least 3 years relevant work experience in an organization (for-profit or not-for-profit) that would normally require an undergraduate degree to obtain experience at running an entrepreneurial business
  • GPA of at least 2.75 and at least 8 years of relevant work experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Passed all 4 parts of the CPA examination as documented by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)
  • Students possessing an earned doctorate
  • Students possessing a master’s degree in a STEM-related field
  • Students possessing a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree from an AACSB-accredited institution

Professional experience is determined on a case-by-case basis using a résumé and any requested supporting documents. Our admission committee evaluates an individual’s accomplishments, roles and responsibilities to determine the total number of years of professional experience. Normally, professional experience begins at the point of graduation; however, the University of West Florida may consider prior work experience based on type of experience.

Tuition for UWF's online degrees make them some of the most affordable programs in Florida. The following is the tuition breakdown for students pursuing a Master of Business Administration online.

A special Academic Partnerships discount price is available for students employed by partner organizations and partner school districts. Fees

A $30 application fee is required; applications will not be processed without it.

Applicants are admitted to the University only for the semester for which they apply. Students who do not enroll in the semester for which they have been admitted and want to be considered for a different semester must reapply and pay the application processing fee again. Applicants will be considered for admission under the policies in effect at that time. Admission is not automatic. If a student has attended another collegiate institution prior to updating the application, the student must provide an official transcript of all work attempted.

Refund Policy

Students receiving financial aid should contact the Financial Aid Office regarding the effect on financial aid eligibility prior to dropping or withdrawing. To understand the refund/repayment policy, you must understand the difference between a drop and a withdrawal.

  • Dropped courses are courses removed from your schedule before the fee payment deadline
  • Withdrawals occur after the fee payment deadline

Refunds are calculated by determining the point in the semester that the student either drops or withdraws. The calculation is also based on whether the student drops or withdraws from all courses or individual courses.

Refunds During the Drop/Add Period

100% of tuition is refunded for each credit hour dropped during the drop/add period. The refund is applied to any financial aid that was disbursed to the student if the drop results in a change to enrollment status. If the amount of the refund does not cover the amount owed to financial aid, the student will be billed for the difference.
