What do you want students to learn in your classes? What is the expected outcome?

Students in my class work on professional and academic writing skills that will help them throughout the BSN program and well into their careers.

Why did you start teaching?

I didn't want to teach. I wanted to do research and write papers, but when I began tutoring and teaching as a graduate student, I couldn't see myself doing anything else. Looking back, I realize that I find myself teaching everywhere I go -- in my career and in my hobbies.

What's the best advice that you have ever received?

If you see something that looks cool on campus (an event or organization), check it out! That's how you make friends who will be with you for years to come.

What's the best advice you could give to online students?

Even though you aren't in class, write things down like you are in class. It will help you commit details to memory.

What is the one book you think everyone should read?

Maxims and Reflections of a Renaissance Statesman by Francesco Guicciardini.
